I have here a hand full of tongue suppressants from the doctor's office. You can not really talk that is to be understood when you have one of these in your mouth. Let me have a volunteer. One of you come up here. hot I want you to do is to soy something to the congregation. Say "good morning". Now, say the sane thing with this tongue suppressant in your mouth. Alright. Well, it does just as it name says it suppresses the tongue.
Now we all have a tongue. It is a very important port of our body. I want to read to you two scriptures. These are negative, or the wrong use of our tongue. One is Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life ore in the power of the tongue." Then, in the New Testament, the little book of James. 3:3, "We put bits in the horses mouth that they may obey us and we turn about their whole body. 3:5 "The tongue is a little member, but it boasts great things." These two scriptures tell us of the wrong use of the tongue.
Romans 14:11 gives us the positive or the right use of our tongue. This is the good aspect. "For it is written as I live says the LOrd, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess to God." We are reminded that if we will confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, thou shalt be saved." Phillipians 2:11
I want to pass these tongue suppressors around to each of you. Take it, be reminded that you have the power to suppress your tongue and not use it for evil or for telling lies or for talking about people. You need not use your tongue for that purpose. Use the tongue suppressant Use your tongue for the Lord.
