ON MOTHS |

Objects several moths, one large one alive, if possible __________ Boys and girls, I have in this little container something I have never brought to Church before. Who knows what this is? Well, if you guess "moth", you are absolutely correct. Sometimes a certain kind of moth will get into garments, and when they do they can ruin the garments. They become moth-eaten. My wife had a beautiful sweater a few years ago. It was put away for the summer. To her sadness she discovered the next fall, when she took the garment out of storage, that there were two large moth-eaten holes. Oh, me! Concerning moths, in the Bible we read in Job 27:18, "He buildeth his house as a moth" And in James 5:2, "Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten." Jesus said something about moths, too, did you know that? In Matthew 6:19 and 20 He said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal." Now, how does one lay up treasures? One, when you attend Church you are laying up treasures for Heaven. When you do good deeds you are laying up treasures in Heaven. When you love one another, you are laying up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, and no moth can enter and destroy or undermine your personal treasure. Can you think of another type of treasure? The garment of peace, joy and love are all protected the year around in Heaven. All, like robes of righteousness are yours because you have been fitted by faith in Christ Jesus. Your robe awaits you, too. Amen. |
