Words for Courageous Living

Afflictions Limitations

When we think about God afflicting His children, at once our defenses rise. Yet in quiet moments of reflection the Bible does support the fact that such happens. Now, we don't like to think about it for we like to think of God as a loving Heavenly Father.

That is just what He is, yet because He is, He does allow various things to come our way. Afflictions do come and at proper times (known only to God) afflictions go.

In the small book of Nahum 1:17 the words are: "Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more."

There is a limit. There is a quotation I would like to share with you. "Do you sigh and say, 'when will the end be?' Let us quietly wait and patiently endure the will of the Lord till He comes. Our Father takes away the rod when His design in using it is fully served."

You know, my friend, if testing is allowed so that God may be glorified, that makes me take another look at my afflictions. Right? So, actually, we would not want the affliction to go away until the purpose has been accomplished. THAT IS HEAVY. I repeat. That statement is strong - but true.

My Prayer for You

Father, may this be a time of calmness for my friend. As the weights are necessary for the coo coo clock which I pulled this morning to keep it going, so is trouble in our soul. It is true the sweetest scents, I am told, are obtained by tremendous pressure. May this reader take a fresh approach to their affliction - what ever it may be. Bless in the name of Jesus.

Amen
