March 12th
I was at a meeting a number of years ago where the leader asked that we plot our life on a piece of paper. He wanted us to draw a straight line when life was running smooth and elevations in the line when things were "not good" by our human reasoning. We dipped the line showing when life had lacked zeal, when there was illness, disappointments, death, etc.
We elevated the line when there were times of joy, weddings, travel, etc. I know that the one next to me hesitated to "reveal" his life. But when we all finished we compared notes (lines) and discovered that we all had the highs and lows. That was not the end, because we were then asked to label some of the points. In doing so we discovered, personally, that some of the lows were OK after all.
You don't need me to make the following statement, but, even for my own benefit, I say: "If I did not have the low points of frustration in my life I would not be able to completely appreciate the high points."
As a matter of fact I feel that life would really be a bore if we lived on a level ground of experiences.
I remind you all, that between every valley are the mountains. If you are in a valley - look to the mountain ahead. As David said,"I will lift up my eyes to the hills." (Psalm 121:1)
I am also reminded that the great Apostle Paul said, "All things work together for good to those that love the Lord." I know you love the Lord, as do I.
Lord, may this one know that all lines come together for good. Further, as you, God, have stated: "In the day of prosperity be joyful, in the days of adversity consider, surely God has appointed the one as well as the other."
Amen
