POINT ON JESUS
piece of material
One of the great verses in the book of Romans is in chapter 8, number 14. Rom 8:14 Those who are led by God's spirit, are God's sons. Here a needle and here a thread. And, we sometimes sing, "Where He leads me, I will follow."
I'll put the needle in this hand and I will try to thread the needle with this thread. Now, it is indeed difficult, but it can be done. Bear with me. My, this is hard, isn't it? It is being done. Ah, it is done. Now, this thread is very important. It will hold together material or whatever is being sewed. But the needle, also, is very important.
This thread can -. represent you and me. You see, we are followers of Jesus. So, as Jesus leads, we can follow. As we follow Him, we know we will be led right. Others may not always lead us correctly, but Jesus will, because He is the right man. As we are connected to Him by faith, we then become his sons and daughters.
I think a good prayer would go like this: Lord, you be the needle, and I will be the thread. And, where you lead I will follow.
Something else boys and girls. Jesus will never lead us to something that He has not already experienced or gone through, and that even includes death. So, as we have the Word to guide us, the Sunday School teachers to teach us, the pastors to aid us we can be good followers of Jesus.
Following him like this thread does the needle makes Him very happy. The needle says, like, "come on, thread" Do not resist or break, but just let go and follow me.
We could also liken this needle to the Holy Spirit because, watch: As I push this needle through this piece of material, the thread will follow. I go here and here. The Holy Spirit leads people to worship and the Holy Spirit leads people to. move in the right way. The Bible does tell us that we are doing right when we follow the Holy Spirit. So, the next time you see someone sewing or even a needle and a thread, just remember that we are to Jesus that thread.
