The Potter and the Clay
Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you and promise you that
If you would believe and rely on Me, you would
See the glory of God?
Because of our independency, it is shard to acknowledge neediness. Yet, needing the Lord is the key to knowing Him intimately. Often times it takes the desert places to find peace, thankfulness and intimacy with the Lord. Learn to rest in the assurance of His love.
He is the potter, we are the clay. Jeremiah 18:4…the vessel that he was making from clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he made it over, reworking it into another vessel as it seemed good to the potter to make it.
Vs. 6 O house of ( )can I not do with you as this potter does? Says the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand.
God is challenging us, His chosen vessels, to be vessels of honor full of the Shekinah glory of the Lord. Their transparency wonderfully reflects the image of Jesus. He is calling us to be His bride. Do we love Him enough The scripture says in Matthew 20:16 that many are called but few chosen. As clay vessels each of us must take this painful journey to be transformed into vessels that reflect the glory of they Lord. (The remainder of this paper is gleaned from the writing of Jill Austin.)
When the potter first finds us we are broken vessels in need of salvation. Despite the condition we're in He has a perfect plan for us. L He begins His work as the potter by taking a rock and pounding our broken bits of clay into fine dust, removing all the debris collected in your life time. WE must remember all the time He is doing this that He has a plan and a future for us.
Next He pours in the clear living water that comes from the throne of God and drenches us until we begin to feel His love as never before.
He then scoops up our moistened clay with His mighty, gentle hand and places us on t he potters wheel. He reminds us that He knows our portion and knows the plans He has for us. His hands go downs into the very depths of who we are and begin to pull up the walls of your new vessel. L You are growing in this time of great favor and blessing.
You see other vessels on the shelf and you want to be with them, to be part of what they are doing. So, the Master ;potter with His cutting wire cuts you off the wheel. As you sit on that shelf you begin to feel dry wondering when your ministry is going to begin.
You don't feel His Presence. Where are you God? I seem to be in a dry and lonely wilderness. I thought I'd b e promoted. He lovingly replies, "Promotion is in the wilderness! I'm testing your love for me. Will you continue to seek My face or turn away? When you were on the wheel there was great intimacy - now, you seem to be forgotten by everyone. Does God really have a future for me? Everyone around you doesn't understand because the greater the calling, the greater the misunderstanding. This is the price for the greater anointing.
The Lord says as we seek His face we will find hidden streams of living water beneath the desert floor. It is snot the approval of man we need but to be so deeply rooted in Him that nomatter what storms of life come, we will not be moved.
While your soul is wrestling and dying in the wilderness you will finally come to say, "Lord, I'll stay in the wilderness my while life if I have to. I have found You in this desert, and You are all I need."
Now the Lord moves us to the consuming fire. Perspiring yourself, you see the other sweaty people next to you and realize you don't even like them. You see, the Lord uses people to bring up the resentment, bitterness, anger and greed in our souls. L Relationships withy family and friends become strained. You can't even get along with the people at church. The fire gets hotter and hotter. "God, if you love me you'll turn off the heat!"
He puts you on the shelf and your happy to be in a hidden place. You don't want to do anything. God tolerates your unwillingness for awhile but then He begins to nudge your spirit. "Are you willing to settle for this! Do you want more of me?"
The angels continue to carefully pour, paint and brush onto each vessel before carrying them into a large kiln
Something deep inside you stirs - that first call, that sense of destiny you felt as a new believer. "Lord" you cry, "I don't want to just sit in the back pew and die. You made me to be a lover of your people and to go out and find broken vessels and bring them to the Potter's house, I know sit won't be easy. There will be a price to pay to have such an anointing but I'm willing."
So into a huge glazing room you go, filled with tables. Vessels are being moved from one table to another in preparation for the high firing. Vessels that have been together a long time are being separated and a soft sound of weeping is heard. God is sovereignty moving His different vessels to prepare them for His Great Commission. Some will stay home others will be going to different cities and nations.
With raging intensity, the second fire starts to burn through the kiln. You've moved from a time of separation to a time of death. Impurities are being removed.
The flow of oxygen is removed, filling the kiln with carbon dioxide. Black soot with heavy smoke and flames consume every vessel in the kiln. It is your personal Gethsemane. Abandonment, isolation and death are all around you. Everything you've built your life on is being consumed! Competition, position, jealousy and pride are driven out of your life by the purifying fire.
The Lord tells you a mystery takes place in the midst of the fire. "My mysteries and My revelations are revealed in the tremendous pressures of the high glory fire. The most be4autiful colors are formed. The richness and depth of color come from the darkest hours of agony and grief, just as diamonds, rubies and emeralds come from hot fires inside the earth. God's glory is being released into the depth of who you are.
At that moment you just know you are going to die, the Lord opens all the dampers. The resurrection light of the Lord and His white transparent glory fire fill the kiln. Everything seems new because you are no longer looking through the haze of ego, pride or religiousness. You begin to see with clarity in the Spirit.
Fresh anointing and impartations are poured out and renewed visions are etched into the hearts of men. Prophetic gifting was released.
Shaking and crying, healing and deliverance, deep repentance and intercession fill the kiln as hungry hearts cry out for more of God.
They've been through a time of appointing, a time of testing, a time of separation and a time of death, but in this high fire they'll go through a time of resurrections they start to move in the anointing with authority.
As the Lord walks through the kiln and sees Himself reflected on each vessel, He turns off the kiln. With great joy He announces, "Now that you reflect My glory, I can send you out to all the world."
