Nancy's Notes

To restore - to bring to original condition. . In scripture when something is restored it is always increased, multiplied or improved so that the latter state is significantly better than the original state (Joel 2:21-26) It also means to replace spiritual death with spiritual life. John 16:23; 17:22; Romans 8:37; Phil. 1:6; 2:13; Col. 1:27

Restoration "in the beginning"

God created man in His own image. He enjoyed the intimacy of God and unbroken fellowship. However, with the decision man made, He lost his God image. But God began His restoration instantly (covering His children with animal skins - picturing the ultimate sacrifice.)

Restoration in Genesis 37-46 starts out in the life of Joseph - forsaken, falsely accused, forgotten, favored.

Man's futile efforts at restoration

Jeremiah 8-10, Lamentation, 2 Israelites refused to hear God, which brought them under the letter of the law. As a result they labored to gain and keep Divine acceptance. God's Hand was forced to discipline Jeremiah 9:3 "They do not know Me." They did not have personal relationship with Him.

God will shake the working of Men's Hands. Heb. 12:26, 27

God will restore them to Himself. Ezekiel 34:11-12

Repentance in Restoration.

Isaiah 58; Jeremiah 31-33;Hosea 14 - Turn to God Himself, allow Him to cleanse and restore.

The Holy Spirit is the Agent

Joel 2:28,29; Titus 3:5,6; Acts 1:8

Restoration in the Church

No more legalism, instead, minister to hurting people with open and accepting arms of love. John 13:34,35, Eph.4: 13; 1 Peter 2:5

Restoration to the Individual

John 10:10 an abundant life in Him!
