birdJesus First Others Second Yourself Lastbird

I was talking to the Lord about the joy He had told me I would come to know. I questioned whether it was His Words or mine. The following morning I looked up and noticed a doll I had just brought home from one of my daughters. She had the sweetest look on her face. It was the most precious expression of joy I had ever seen. Then I noticed the doll was dressed as a lamb, which represented Jesus to me, and I knew He had just spoken to me. I experienced such joy. It was as though something dropped from my head into my heart.

The Lord in His mercy and grace has been bringing me this glorious freedom of joy. I praise Him for His faithfulness to me. All He requires is for us to desire it. He will bring it about.

What is this joy and how does it come about? We'll look at some scriptures and see what we can come up with.

Jesus says: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:36-39

He also says: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. John 13:34

"Love one another" - It is what one does and how he relates to others. It is a decision, commitment, or a way of behaving. We are to behave lovingly towards one another.

We must possess the spirit of Christ. His love was sacrificial, unconditional, constant, self-sustaining, provided for the best interest of the beloved.

He has commanded that we should love one another as He has loved us.

This is impossible unless we have an intimate knowledge of Him. He also reminds us in 1 Corinthians 2:9 " Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

He has also said: Isaiah 64:4 For since the beginning of the world:

Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

When we speak of the eye and ear, we talking about perceptual knowledge through observation and sense. Heart, mind is conceptual by reason and intellectual inquiry.

"Love Him" is speaking of a spiritual learning In other words, it's not what we gather together with our observation or intellect it's what the Holy Spirit works in us as we put our trust in the Lord - a trust of a little child.

Matthew 11:28-31 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

This is a picture of what it means to come to Him. We are to place ourselves in simple child like faith in Him. We are yoked with Him and our burden is lifted. When we surrender to whatever we are holding on to and trusting Him completely we will know no greater freedom than that. We have to experience it to know the intimacy. To be yoked is intimacy. We are trusting with all our soul (mind, will, and emotion) We become His completely. We come to know Him in our hearts - not head knowledge. We learn this through the experiencing of our faith.

Isaiah 55:1,6 An Invitation to Abundant Life

"Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters;
And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.
Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.

Come - for the self surrender that accepts blessings. Let your soul delight in the profuseness of spiritual joy.

Seek - inquire for and require of necessity ((How desperate are you?) Because His thoughts are higher - so shall His Word be that goes out of His mouth; it shall not return void. The power in His Word will always fulfill the promises His word. His own life power is within it! He spoke the word and it was!

Psalm 56:3-4,8-9

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust; I will not fear.
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?
When I cry out to You, Then my enemies will turn back;
This I know, because God is for me.

Faith is a conscious choice to act on what God says is true. Faith requires practice to grow and become strong. It is released through acts of obedience. To be drawn away from doubt and wavering commitment is required.

Psalm 62:1-2,5-8

Truly my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people Pour out your heart before Him;

God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Wait expectantly!

Psalm 63:1-5 O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your loving kindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness
, And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

Worship is an important part of our devotion to God. He is present with those who worship Him. Also, in prayer, spend time listening as well.

Remember: All things are accomplished through the grace and power of Jesus.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 3:9

For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.

So, pray for the all-round strengthening and perfecting of your soul

.
