Words For Courageous Living

Negative attitude

Mark 9:23

Jesus has just been asked to heal, but the statement is, "IF" you can. "'If you can'?" said Jesus, "Everything is possible for him who believes."

Isaiah 40:29-31

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

It is so easy to get “the blues”, to get “down”, to get “a downcast spirit” to have a negative attitude. Like, “Nothing has changed - it will always be this way” or “Just not meant to be”, etc.

I have found personally that much depends on my WILL as to where I will place my self. It is either UP with God, or DOWN with Satan (after all he is the father of lies).I have come to believe that “not all bad things are bad”.

For example, at the time of this writing, “life has dealt me a low blow”. Now, first of all I “hate” that phrase because it is not a true statement. But in the context I use it hopefully so you can identify with me. Now, I can do one of two things. I can get really low and feel bad with negative written all over me - or, I can look up my Heavenly Father and get his “take on it” and my “response to it”. In this regard, my friend, I do have a choice. This is the WILL that all have been created with. Now, obviously it is not going to change the situation. BUT it will make the situation more bearable....and I will not be affected by the “negative” happening in my life.

I can hear some of you thinking/saying, “Well, sounds good, but just how do you do it?” Answer: Not in my own strength, but in the strength of the Lord. The next thing is every time “it” enters my mind I quickly discard it in the recycle bin. (Which one needs to permanently delete at the end of each day....let not many items remain there.)

You see, it is where my mind is stayed that results occur. If my mind is stayed on God (as Isaiah speak of) then we will have perfect peace in a negative situation. Think God....not the problem!! The Scripture reminds us that “a person tends to become like the persons he associates with”. So instead of dwelling/thinking on a negative disposition think God, think positive. Remember things are not as bad as they seem and also remember that God’s sees over the fence...and above all there is victory in Jesus.Talk to him about it and “bring your burdens to the Lord and leave them there”.
